Favorite Books

A Mage's Guide to Human Familiars

(2-book main series, +1 side book) Lighthearted, throuple fun about a demon-blooded mage and his fated familiar mate(s).

The Lightning-Struck Heart

(4-book main series, +1 side book) Crazed fantasy adventure involving a number of over-the-top, campy characters.  Mostly silly and raunchy (with very minimal outright sex), but has its poignant moments.

Offbeat Crimes

Offbeat Crimes

(6 book series) A police-adjacent series about a largely queer squad of defectively-powered officers that handle city disturbances.  (I say adjacent, because the execution is cartoonish, and the criminals/villains all generally end up being non-sapient monsters, like living books who cast Power Word: Insult, time-shifting pill bugs, deadly dust bunnies, and musical-theatre zombies)

There are four protagonists over the course of the series, and the books are both fairly inclusive, and respectful of how it portrays disabilities (including a mute lizardman, a wolf-turned-human who doesn't understand certain social cues, and a vampire who can only drink skim-blood).

The primary relationships established by the different MC's are all M/M.

Skye Kilaen's Queer Books Newsletter

Somehow, this amazing author and purveyor of queer books found one of my novels and listed it on her monthly newsletter.  I couldn't have been more stoked when I found out!

If you like reading books that go beyond the basic m/m or f/f type, SIGN UP for her monthly newsletter, or just review the newsletter archives.  Maybe even give her own books a view (I said she was an author, right?).  Either way, you can probably expect to find your next few weeks of leisure time "booked" up.

As mentioned on her website, Skye gathers books that are less common in queer romance: polyamory, queer M/F couples, MCs in their 40s+, and series that mix gender pairings/groups instead of being all M/M or all F/F, and which are written by authors who are:  BIPOC; trans/nonbinary/agender; intersex; ace and/or aro spectrum; queer guys; writing from their own experience about another marginalization.
